Law makers blast Opposition leader in Parliament

Via SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 15 (BSS)-Apart from eulogizing President Zillur Rahman for address to the House, treasury bench members today sharply criticized and condemned Opposition Leader Begum Khaleda Zia for her recent comments at a Chandpur public meeting about the ruling grand alliance government.

Participating in the thanks giving motion of the President’s
speech to the Jatiya Sangsad, the AL lawmakers said Begum Khaleda
Zia has violated all norms of democratic politics by vowing to
make the government ‘handicapped’.
They said her statements are nothing, but a deep-rooted
conspiracy against the government as well as the country’s
people. Khaleda’s remarks have hurt the sentiment of the disabled
people across the country, they added.
Congratulating President Zillur Rahman for his speech, the
lawmakers said the President gave a guideline to the nation in
the address through highlighting successes of the present
government in implementing Vision-2021.
They termed the speech as a milestone for achieving socio-
economic progress of the country amid a global meltdown.
Lawmakers Khan Tipu Sultan, Monoranjan Sheel Gopal, Sadhona
Halder, Fazilatunnesa Bappi, Shawkat Ali Badsha, Abdul Wadud, M
Ishaque Hossain Talukder, Asma Jerin Jhumu, Rubi Rahman, Abdul
Majid Khan, Abdur Rahman Bodi,Nurul Islam Sujan and Zafar Iqbal
Siddiqui took part in the discussion.
The treasury bench members also urged the opposition to
comeback to the House and place their demands shunning politics
of anarchy in the streets.
Mentioning the antigovernment programmes of the opposition
BNP, they said Begum Zia has been trying to destabilize the
country in a bid to save the war criminals through foiling the
ongoing trials of the “notorious criminals” who perpetrated
atrocities against innocent people during the country’s great War
of Liberation in 1971.
They said Begum Khaleda Zia is making negative statements
being envious of various development programmes of the government
for the welfare of the people.
Not for public interest, Begum Zia is trying to launch anti-
government programmes to save her two corrupt sons as well as the
war criminals, the AL lawmakers said adding that the people will
reject BNP for its anti-people role as they are very pleased with
the government.
The AL MPs gave vivid picture of successes achieved in
different sectors by the government during the last three years
including establishing good governance.
They said the President in his January 25 speech in the House
gave a befitting reply to Leader of the Opposition and BNP
Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia by highlighting the pro- people
activities of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
