Chelsea keeper Cech could barely watch on Saturday night as Muamba received emergency heart treatment after collapsing during the Cup clash with Spurs at White Hart Lane.

For the horrific incident brought painful memories about a man whose own life once hung in the balance on the pitch.

According to a daily, six years ago, Cech was laid low by a sickening blow to the head from the knee of Reading winger Stephen Hunt.

The 29-year-old Czech Republic star is still haunted by the injury, which forces him to wear a protective skull cap even now.

He said: "I was relieved to see the medical attention he (Muamba) was receiving. It is good to see that after what happened to me at Reading in 2006, the rules and medical facilities to deal with a situation like this have changed for the better.”

He added: "Fabrice still has a chance to survive because of all the doctors and equipment now around the pitch."

The Premier League and FA held a major review into medical treatment after Cech`s injury at the Madejski Stadium in October 2006.

Chelsea made an official complaint after Cech was forced to wait for 30 minutes before an ambulance took him to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to save his life.
