Rowdy Rathore : The Review

Prabhu Deva’s 'Rowdy Rathore' , his second innings after ‘Wanted’, may not be a clean and polished film, though you will enjoy a good measure of its mix of fair entertainment that provides an escapist fantasy.
Director:Prabhu Deva
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Nasser, Paresh Ganatra, Supreeth, Yashpal Sharma
This unabashed masala potpourri may not brim with cool twists in the plot or have redeeming witty one-liners yet, Rowdy Rathore snags your attention with its over the top melodrama, ample heroism, slapstick comedy, huge dollaps of action, sentiments and romance.
Even though the movie shows you something with no surface logic and truth, this remake of the Telugu hit 'Vikramakudu' is an incredible recreation. Watching Akshay’s moustache curling act and his action stunts will charm you.

And it seems like the actor had a ball playing a petty thief rather than top cop Vikram Rathore and Akshay delivers a double whammy with his identical roles of a chor and cop.
'Rowdy Rathore’s true stunner is the Khiladi star himself and director Prabhu Deva has brought out the distinct style of the actor. Akshay Kumar shines in the action scenes, dialogues and with his funny antics.
The film is rife with violence; little bit of romance, copious sentiments and ample heroism and director Prabhu Deva has churned out all with ease.
Performance wise: Akshay Kumar is back with a bang as an action hero and the actor impresses with his screen presence. While Sonakshi has little to do she manages well and gives a fine performance. The shy-cute looking Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay and Kareena look appealing in the 'Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita’ song.
Story-line
Petty thief- Shiva along with his partner in crime and sidekick (Paresh Ganatra) have a knack in performing con tricks with people and make a living out of it.
And during one such adventure, this street smart ruffian meets salwar-kurta clad pretty damsel Priya (Sonakshi Sinha) from Patna who has come for a wedding in Mumbai. He falls in love with her at first sight and even tricks her into believing that she is in love with him.
And before he decides to mend his ways, things lead him to take responsibility of six-year old Chinki, who believes that Shiva is her father.
Meanwhile, Shiva becomes fond of Chinki and when he tries to keep the kid away from Priya, his ladylove finds out and leaves for Patna.
The heartbroken Shiva is hunted and even attacked by some goons, who assume he is the muscled cop and Chinki’s father Vikram Rathore. He runs for the safety of the kid but is cornered by the burly goons. However, he’s saved by the cop, Vikram Rathore (Akshay Kumar), who unfortunately is injured in the fight.
Meanwhile Vikram who hails from Devgarh, a small village, has always saved people from the tyranny of the villain Babji (Nasser). But when Vikram dies, Shiva takes over as the cop and becomes Rowdy Rathore and slowly destroys Babji’s empire.
Bottom-Line
'Rowdy Rathore' pays homage to some of the typical old formulaic peppery commercial potboilers. There is nothing tangible to carry off from this film except that it’s an impressive recreation and a time pass for hardcore mass masala fans.
You can definitely watch this fast food entertainer.
