It was in 1983 that Dream Girl Hema Malini played the role of Mughal queen Razia Sultan in a movie with the same name. Now, more than two decades later, the daughter is all set to wield the sword again in a remake of the original to be made by none other than the original Razia: Hema Malini herself.
Razia Sultan was the only female ruler of the Mughal Sultanate from 1236 to 1240 AD who had been trained in warfare and administration. She died a mysterious death and to this date, historians are trying to figure out the mystery behind this ruler's passing away.
Hema Malini, who seems determined to make her daughter's flagging career soar to new heights, was recently quoted to have said, "Esha would look as beautiful as Razia." Incidentally, the earlier movie wasn't quite successful, but Hema Malini is quite sure that the remake would be good for her daughter.
Dream Girl Hema Malini, who had turned director with 1992 film Dil Aashna Hai and is wearing the director's cap for the forthcoming Tell Me O Kkhuda has however declined to direct this royal venture. The actress apparently feels that direction is a tough job because of the tedious shot taking and hence is on the lookout for someone to helm the period flick.
In Tell Me O Kkhuda, Esha Deol who shares screen space with Dharmendra for the first time will essay the role of a young girl who sets off in search for her long lost father.
