While on a holiday in Manali recently, Chitrangada Singh had an opportunity to learn fly-fishing which is distinct from simple fishing
Chitrangada says, “I did fly fishing on a trout on the Teerthal river near Manali. I had a decent report card of two fishes on Day One.
I really enjoyed it as you have to know what the fish are feeding at different times of day so you have to keep changing the bait accordingly.”
She adds, “I was also fascinated by how experienced anglers make their own baits which are exactly like real flies. It’s an art. I wish I could learn it.”What is fly fishing?
Fly-fishing is an angling method in which an artificial fly is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialised weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or lure requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting.
