Tabu Turns Down Madhuri Dixit Starrer 'Gulab Gang'

Tabu, Madhuri Dixit

Actress Tabu was all set to play a politician in Anubhav Sinha's upcoming film Gulab Gang. However, when she learnt that the lead role had gone to former contemporary Madhuri Dixit, she turned down the offer.

A source was quoted saying, "Tabu refused the film because she wanted to play Madhuri's role of a female vigilante who heads a group of women who help other women solve their problems."

Tabu was quoted saying, "I was approached for the protagonist's role many years ago. Because of lack of funds, the film never went on the floors. They may have tried to get in touch with me this time, but we haven't had a fresh meeting. Reports of me wanting Madhuri's role are baseless."

The film is about a gang of women fighting against social injustice. It is being directed by former journalist Soumik Sen and is likely to feature Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla as a part of Dixit's gang. The film is set to go on floors after the rains and will hit the screens next year on Women's Day.
Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor have also been approached for this particular role.
