COCKTAIL trailer: Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone’s new love story

Watch the trailer of director Homi Adajania’s take on love and friendship
Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone are back together in a film that is eerily similar to their Love Aaj Kal. Director Homi Adajania makes a comeback with this romcom, Cocktail after his critically acclaimed Being Cyrus. Though Cocktail looks like a fresh take on relationships, Saif’s opening line about love at first sight is old and clichéd. The new girl Diana Penty looks great with the Nawab and we are waiting to see more of her. Perhaps Dippy’s boldest film yet, it seems as if she is having a blast with this one – you can see that in the trailer. It is wonderful to see Boman Irani with Dimple Kapadia again, after their brief appearance in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance. Saif looks pretty convincing as a flirt who wears his heart on his sleeve and we must say that from what we’ve seen so far, we can’t wait to watch him share screen space with Deepika and Diana. What do you think about this love story written by Imtiaz Ali?

The Diana Penty?

For starters, she’s an Indian model who has a strange karmic connection with Deepika Padukone

Despite the powerful presence of stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, the third actor in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail has managed to get everyone interested in her. She is an Indian model called Diana Penty. But not many people know her, since she isn’t one of the usual struggling actors waiting for her big break in Bollywood.
The casting directors of Cocktail were looking for a new face to cast as Meera, and one day Imtiaz Ali – who has co-written the script – suggested that they meet Diana. And that was it. Dinesh Vijan, the producer of Cocktail, and Homi agreed to meet the young model. The producer recalls, “I was in a rush to leave town, she was in a hurry to go for a photo-session, but at a glance, we felt that despite the perfect smile and polished looks, Diana was the shy, girl-next-door Meera.”

Why didn't Rohan Bopanna scream ‘am I a toy boy’?

Does the self-described "bait" tennis player Sania Mirza realise how much of a disservice she does to herself in particular and women in general?

Does she really envisage herself in that nauseating and sexist term? And, what is even sicker is that we make such fools of ourselves in India? If Azharuddin is caught for match fixing, he plays the Muslim card forgetting that he was captain of India; if Bangaru Laxman, the then president of BJP, indicted for accepting a bribe promptly pulls out the trusty Dalit card and now Mirza, with her formidable accomplishments, demeans herself by playing the woman card.

There are only 30 odd days left for the Olympics. Isn't it time that all of us in this country started playing the merit card?

It pains me as a woman to see gender being used to play victim. And, as a feminist, I am appalled that any woman can describe herself as”bait". Why bother with misogyny when we do such a fine job of knocking ourselves down!

Euro 2012: 5 reasons behind Spain’s another final appearance

Warsaw: Spain arrived at Euro 2012 the favourites, but, with the media on their backs from day one, they have had to fight their way to the final, as people have queued up to dismiss their chances and criticise their style.

The last European team to achieve a hat-trick of successive final appearances was West Germany in the 1970s, which makes Spain`s performance over the past six years all the more impressive. After winning Euro 2008, they followed that up with victory in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup, and now they have sealed their place in the final of this European Championship. Should they win it on Sunday they will become the first team to retain the Henri Delaunay Cup, as well as the first to win three consecutive major tournament. Below are the five things that have helped La Roja reach their third consecutive showpiece.

Bollywood needs to think beyond Khans

They are not the pedigree of Kapoors or Bachchans, neither do they have a famous surname nor a blind fan following which ensures them a hit every time their film releases. And yet, actors like Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Sharman Joshi shine each time they come on screen.

The year 2012 has been a good one for them so far. Directors have had the courage to think beyond formula films and the audiences have lapped up experimental, niche films with equal fervour like they have loved their usual commercial potboilers. ‘Pan Singh Tomar’, ‘Ferrari Ki Swaari’ and now the latest ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ have all proved that in Bollywood, there is no set formula for success and it is okay to take a risk.

`ThePaper Dhoni` Review: A shoddy work of Nayak

New Delhi: R.K. Nayak`s directorial debut ‘Paper Dhoni’ deals with many current issues. It is difficult to name one contemporary issue that has not been included in the movie. The film has all the possible answers to problems plaguing the world, but is difficult to digest those solutions.
On wonders why the film is titled ‘Paper Dhoni’, when it tackles issues like terrorism, corruption, poverty, and illiteracy. The director tries to provide his own solutions to these problems.

Unlike other commercial movies, ‘Paper Dhoni’ tries to be serious by bringing out issues that may be totally irrelevant to the story line. May be the director wanted to show that he is well aware of problems in the country and abroad.

'I have been given too much due'

`I have been given too much due`

Reviewing his last 12 years' work, Abhishek Bachchan feels people have been over-generous and have given him much more credit than he deserves.

"I think people think I am a much better actor than I actually am. I think I have a lot more to do and improve. I think people are too kind to me," Abhishek told.

"I am very harsh on myself. An actor is always his worst critic. I feel I have been given too much due and I am not shamming by saying this. I genuinely believe that, I feel I have a lot more to do and learn," he added.

Junior B made his debut with J.P. Dutta's "Refugee" in 2000 - which got an iffy reception. Since then, he has seen ups and downs in his career with hits like "Bunty Aur Babli" and "Sarkar" and flops like "Kuch Naa Kaho", "Bas Itna Sa Khwaab hai" and "Players".

Donald Driver Hoping His Freestyle Is Good Enough For Dancing Mirrorball Glory

Monday night – a country-flavored freestyle with Peta Murgatroyd – and he’s hoping it lands the pair the “Dancing with the Stars” mirrorball.
“It’s important, because it’s important for Peta to have it,” Donald told Access Hollywood backstage, after “DWTS.” “She deserves it; she’s worked hard for it… I told her [in] Week 1, I wasn’t going to get voted off first and… we’re in the final. It’s here! And they say ‘freestyle wins the competition.’ I worked my butt off to nail the routine. We [nailed] it, the crowd erupts… Millions of fans at home were probably going ‘Oh, yes! Oh, yes!’ But at the end of the day, they say, ‘freestyle wins.’ Give us the mirrorball.”
Donald and Peta ended the night finally getting judge Len Goodman to turn around his No. 10-scoring paddle, and Donald thinks it’s all down to the pair bringing that unexpected element to their freestyle.
“I don’t think anyone expected me to do country. Everyone probably expected hip-hop, but we wanted to bring a new element, change the show completely up. And we did,” Donald said. “I think we did an amazing job. I think she choreographed it well, she put the country with the hip-hop, and, at the end of the day, we had the crowd off their feet the whole time.”

Shawn Johnson Retires From Gymnastics

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Caption Shawn Johnson has announced her retirement from gymnastics, despite her desire to make the 2012 Olympic team.
“I still have the heart, drive, and desire to compete and help the USA at the London Olympics,” the 20-year-old gymnast — who had been struggling to make a full recovery following a 2010 knee injury — said in a statement on Sunday.
“Unfortunately, it has become obvious that my left knee is not able to sustain the demands of gymnastics any longer,” the statement continued. “All I can do now is gracefully retire and thank everyone who has believed in me and my journey.”
Johnson said she chose to announce the news immediately so as not to take attention away from the impending Olympic trials.

Julianne Hough, Kendra Wilkinson Talk Dancing With The Stars All-Stars

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- With her film career in full swing, Julianne Hough has moved on from “Dancing with the Stars,” but having won the mirrorball twice, she is in a good position to weigh in on who should come back for the All-Stars edition this fall.
“I think Mel B would be amazing back on the show,” Julianne told Access Hollywood at the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Also on her list?
“Sabrina Bryan, since she got kicked off so early, which was not right. And… I don’t know maybe like, Jennie Garth or something. That would be cool.”

'Welcome to the Rileys' on Netflix: Kristen Stewart Is Better Than Bella

This weekend Snow White and the Huntsman seeks to storm the box office and take the number one spot. A rather combative and fantastical take on the classic fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular hunter and Kristen Stewart as the central heroine. Stewart, as many of you know, is also the star of the beloved or maligned (depending on who you talk to) Twilight Saga. Whether a Twi-hard or a Twi-hater, the basic fact is that the Twilight performances franchise-wide have been less-than-stellar. Stewart herself has taken a great deal of flack from Twilight detractors, and I won’t pretend I didn’t count myself in this camp at one point, for her stilted, vapid portrayal of Bella Swan.
As I said, I didn’t think much of Kristen Stewart after seeing the first few Twilight movies, but one of the greatest fallacies critics can commit is believing that one role represents the breadth of an actor’s talent. It shouldn’t take you long, venturing outside the town of Forks, to understand that Kristen Stewart is far better than Bella. The first movie that opened my eyes to her talent was 2010’s The Runaways. She took on the unenviable take of portraying iconic rocker Joan Jett, and did so with such poise and rebellious complexity. It was one of the biggest surprises of that year for me. Currently, another 2010 film featuring Stewart, Welcome to the Rileys, is available on Netflix’s Watch Instantly service. I have a feeling that if you give it a spin, you might just come around on Kristen Stewart too.
Welcome to the Rileys stars James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), and Melissa Leo as a married couple who recently lost their fifteen-year-old daughter in a car accident. The loss has not only shattered them

Teri Meri Kahaani is just a regular rom-com

Cast : Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Neha Sharma, Humna Ahmed

Director : Kunal Kohli

Music : Sajid-Wajid

Rating : **1/2

'Reel life couple' - Shasha, PC starrer, Teri Meri Kahaani" narrates a story of soulmates who baffle against circumstances. This triple-treat tale of love and romance revolves around three stories spanning over three different eras. Nevertheless, this romcom fails to touch our hearts.

Director Kunal Kohli, to some extent, has failed to strike the chord this time. The premise may have been exclusive but the over all packaging is as stale as our Indian cinema itself. Not to forget that, 'script is king' in Indian cinema which pulls the crowd to theatres.

Finally, a film for Nargis Fakhri

After being unceremoniously dropped from 'Khiladi 786', the 'Rockstar' actress signs her second Bollywood film

After being thrown out of an Akshay Kumar starrer, simply because she didn’t ‘look’ the part of Mithun Chakraborty’s sister, looks like Lady Luck has finally smiled on Nargis Fakhri. Buzz is that she has signed a film under Pritish Nandy and daughter Rangita’s banner, to be directed by Rajshri Ojha.

'Anurag Kashyap can be eccentric at times'

Richa Chadda reveals that the director went with his instinct by casting her in their upcoming film 'Gangs of Wasseypur'

There are few actresses in the Hindi film industry who truly mean it when they claim to have the patience to wait for a good role. Richa Chadda is surely one of them.

Nearly four years ago, she made her debut in the National Award-winning Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! as Neetu Chandra’s sensuous sister, it was apparent that the audience would be seeing more of her in the future. Somehow that didn’t materialise.
